From tired gas fire to living flame
A recent job, told plainly, because it shows how the whole thing works:
- The old gas fire removed, with a Gas Safe registered engineer from our network capping and making safe the old feed
- The builder's opening opened up, revealing the chimney breast as it was meant to be
- A slate hearth cut and laid, level and generous
- The surround boarded and plastered, ready for decoration
- An oak beam sourced and fitted, the crown on the whole composition
- The stove itself installed and commissioned, with the certification the regulations require
- The room decorated, dust sheets up, and the first fire laid

What we do
The building work, hearths, openings, boarding, plastering, oak beams, surrounds and decorating: the craft that turns a stove into a fireplace worth looking at.
What the regulations require
Stove installation is controlled work under Building Regulations, and gas appliance removal belongs with Gas Safe registered engineers. These rules exist for good reason, and we never work around them.

Cared for, season after season
A stove is not a purchase; it is a small relationship. Flues need sweeping, rope seals wear, glass dulls, hinges loosen, and firebricks crack quietly at the back where nobody looks. None of it is dramatic, and all of it is simpler caught early, which is precisely what our care plans are for. An annual sweep and service before the first cold evening, and your stove is ready when you want it most.
Already have a stove that has seen better days? Refresh is a speciality: new seals, new glass, firebricks replaced, repainting, and the surround made good. Repair before replacement, here as everywhere.
One installation, start to finish
A chimney breast opened up, lined, hearthed and made good, then handed back as a room rather than a building site.
A survey and scope visit is £130, credited against the job if it proceeds. Building works and finishing for a full installation typically start around £2,600, excluding the stove itself and the registered specialist costs, which pass through at cost. An annual stove refresh is about £260.
These are starting points, not a menu. Combine them, split them, or ask for the one job you actually want. If that is a single curtain pole, send us that one line and a single curtain pole is all we will price.
The part you never see again
Most of the cost of a stove is not the stove. An old opening usually has a lintel that was never asked to carry what a stove needs, or one that has quietly given up. It comes out, a new one goes in, and then it disappears behind plaster for the next fifty years.
A stove that is too big for the room is a common and expensive mistake. Oversized stoves get run low to stop the room becoming unbearable, which tars the flue, blackens the glass and shortens the life of the whole installation. We would rather size it properly and sell you less stove than have you regret a handsome one.
