Repair is an act of optimism.
Modern culture encourages replacement: discard, upgrade, start again. Sometimes that is sensible. But a carefully repaired gate keeps its history, restored joinery preserves the character of a home, and timber that has stood for a century usually deserves the benefit of the doubt.

When the material still has life in it, and restoration honours both craftsmanship and sustainability. Extending a timber window's life by twenty years is the greenest thing anyone can do to it.
When we replace
When repair would cost more and deliver less, we say so. The most expensive option is not always the best investment, and sentiment should not be billed by the metre.

Every home speaks its own language
A Victorian terrace speaks a different language from a contemporary apartment, and a converted barn asks for different solutions than a suburban family house. Good joinery begins with listening: understanding what already exists before deciding what to add.
Original features are respected. Materials are chosen to feel appropriate, not merely available. Alterations should appear considered rather than fashionable, so that in ten years the work still makes sense. The objective is never to erase a property's history. It is to add the next chapter thoughtfully.
An internal door supplied and hung is around £380. Alcove shelving is roughly £485 a bay, made to fit and painted. Sash windows eased and serviced start near £220. Restoration work is quoted after inspection, with the repair and replace options priced side by side.
